Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8

I am looking at a Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 APO EX DG Macro HSM II - Nikon Fit for around £650.

I know its a £1000 less, but how does it compare to the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8??

Also, this states its a macro lens, but with a min focusing distance of 100cm. I thought with macro lenses you wanted to get right up close for max detail?

I really like but never use it much

DON'T USE IT FOR CLOSE UP WORK!

I can't bleave how bad it is at that!

other than that I can fault it, Obvuosly the Nikon will be better but I've never taken a photo and thought that the lens could be better (plently wrong with the photographer!)

I think the macro on the lens just means it focus's closer than a normal 70-200 thats all.
