sigma 70-200mm F2.8 Vs Canon 70-200mm F4

Which one is best for IQ
I've got the sigma at the moment great lens pictures are pin sharp ,but its heavy at 1390g ..
Now do I keep what I've got or do I change it for the Canon F4 ??
Reasons plz
 
Why don't you hire one and see what you make of it?

If it were me, and I had the Sigma 2.8, I wouldn't be thinking of the F4L as I'm not convinced it'd be a good move. But, as I have an F4L IS I don't think I'd be happy with the Sigma F4. The iq for Canon's intro L is outstandingly good once you've faffed with the in camera micro calibrations.
 
How often due you use the F2.8 aperture of the Sigma as no matter how good the Canon lens is it cannot do F2.8. If you find that you are using apertures of F4 or smaller more of the time or you are leaving the lens at home because it is too heavy the Canon may be the answer.

From the weight, I'm guessing you mean the Canon 70-200L 2.8 Mk1. Both the Canon f/4 variants (IS and non-IS) are a bit sharper than that at max aperture, and a lot lighter. The f/4 IS version also benefits from weather-proof build and a more rounded aperture (bokeh).

With 70-200 zooms, it's important to be clear about exactly what's being discussed. There are lots of variants from different manufacturers, old and new, with very similar model names but quite different performance.

The way I read the Op post was that he has a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 but was wondering about replacing it with a Canon 70-200 F4, may be wrong? o_O
