Sigma 70-210 APO f2.8

I am after a fast tele zoom but even second hand the lenses are looking a bit over budget but I notice a couple of places selling this older version of the lens,I have been told that it will work on my 30D but not the 400D.Can anyone confirm that and does anybody have any experience of this lens

the 70-210 might be old enough to require rechipping on newer bodies. i would contact sigma for their advise.

I think it'll only be able to shoot wide open if it's not been rechipped. Give sigma a call and ask if they are able to rechip it (they may not be able to) and how much that would cost. I found them very helpful when I phoned them up.
