I got a 450D just before Christmas and have been hapily using the kit lens and nifty fifty since. I dont shoot one type of subject in particular, just whatever catches my eye. I now want to get a telephoto and have read good things about both the Sigma 70-300mm APO Macro Super and Canon 55-250, which seem to end up around the same sort of price second hand. I'm not sure whether I'd use the extra reach on the Sigma and read that it's soft past 200mm in any case. The macro functionality on the Sigma seems nice. I've been offered the Sigma now for £115 whereas I'd have to wait for the Canon to become available - what would you recommend?
