Anybody here shoot motorsport at Oulton Park? Ive just seen a "SIGMA 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG LENS" in the for sale section which has tempted me. I currently have a 55-250mm canon lens and wanted something with a little more zoom. I was going to save for a 150-500mm sigma but I think this may be too much zoom and a very big lens just for motorsport.
 
The extra 50mm won't make that much difference try the sigma 120-400, has great reviews
 
The extra 50mm isn't worth bothering with in my opinion.
The 55-250 is a corker of a lens and if you crop the image to get the same FOV as you would with that Sigma I reckon it'll be far better quality. ;)
 
I would personally save up for the sigma 120-400 as the risk with cheap lenses is that they may not be very sharp at the 300mm. The 55--250 is one of the best budget lenses you can get so I would stick with it for the time being
 
If you're thinking about getting the 150-500 you might want to consider a sigma 70-200 f2.8 and a 1.4x TC instead, they should work out similar in price.
The 150-500 is a beast but needs good light as the minimum aperture at 150mm is f5 and at 500mm is f6.3.
A 1.4x TC on a 70-200 f2.8 will turn it into a 98-280 constant f4.

And for all that money he gets 30mm
No
Shooting motor sport outside, weather I presume will be decent or the gear will stay inside get the 120-400.
