Hi folks i have a wee quick question about my lens?

I have noticed my lens has a limit switch on the side and was wanting to no what this does and when would i be in a situation as to when i would use this.

Thanks.

When the limit switch is set to infinity, the lens will focus from its closest focusing distance all the way to infinity. When using a macro lens at its closet focusing distance and in AF, the lens can 'hunt', meaning it will try to focus using the whole focusing range. Macro lenses can have a long focusing action, so it takes a while for the camera/lens to work out what's going on.

The limit switch limits the maximum focusing distance to say a couple of feet, meaning if and when the lens is used in AF mode, the lens should focus more quickly.

To use it, you usually set the lens to its closest focusing distance, set the limit to 'on' and away you go.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

So i have the lens all the way out to it's at 1.1 on the barrel i then switch the limit on and it will only autofocus in a small way?

Yep, that's exactly what it will do. If you put the lens into MF mode and try it, you'll see what I mean.
I could go and get my Canon 100 (or Kiasmum's 50 siggy) to check, but everything's packed up for an easter holiday.

Your best bet is to have a bit of a play.

Have fun!

Cheers
