Sigma 8-16

At some point this year I'd like to buy a UWA and this is one that rarely gets a mention. I'd just be interested to hear a few opinions on it. Reviews seem very positive but I haven't heard of many people using them. Are there any work around for using filters?

I have tried one of these and at 8-10 mm it is on it's own and very very wide I only had it for 10 mins or so but was amazed by what you could get it standing close I will dig out some of my shot when I get to my pc. I liked it a lot but can't decide on this or the 10-20 which is £200 less but yet to try.

Not sure exactly what your last sentence meant but you cannot fit a filter to the 8-16 as the front element protrudes too far and I mean too far. I have heard of home made filter holders being made out of a hood but not seen one.

Thanks martin. My last question was a bit poorly worded. I blame the late hour.

It's the lack of ability to take filters that bothers me a lot. I know on the Nikon 14mm lens which has a similar issue, Lee (and maybe others) have produced a special adpator that allows use of filters. I guess I was hoping there may be something similar for the Sigma without having to butcher anything.

Otherwise, it's very appealing.
