Sigma 85mm 1.4

I just ordered a Sigma 85mm 1.4 as it was priced at £459.I have not used a Sigma lens before.Can someone who has this lens tell me, if this is a good compromise for Nikon 85mm 1.4G?
 
Do you have this lens by any chance and if so ,how is the focusing speed and Bokeh?

I had a Canon fit one and used it on my 20D and 5D and until I moved to mirrorless I thought it was the best AF lens I'd ever used. It's pretty sharp at f1.4 and IMO the bokeh is nice. I had the old and well regarded non art 50mm f1.4 as well and I thought that the 85mm was better.

I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with it.

Not anymore as 85 isn't one of my most used FLs, but I really liked it, focus speed is fast for a big f1.4 lens and OOF and bokeh is gorgeous like most Sigma primes, creamy.
 
I have asked the same question in a separate thread as I bought a Sigma 85mm 1.4 from Amazon at a Bargain price.I wish someone can post some photos taken with Sigma 85mm 1.4 and Nikon D750.

They'll be pretty much the same as the Sigma 85 on any FF camera. Check flickr.
 
I had the Sigma 85 1.4 on a 5d3 which was perrrfect. Then I moved to Nikon D750 and am currently using the 85 1.4g. I keep wondering if I should switch to the sigma?!?!

One of the things stopping me is the ability to send both the camera and lens to Nikon to calibrate - they made adjustments from +11 to +3 (my adjustments / checks using focal). NPS have told me to resend the combo for a 0+/- adjustment!
 
I will be getting mine today as well.Want to test it after work.SR-please post some photos taken with that.
 
Beautiful.Did you have to fine tune the focus ? I have to fine tune it to get sharp shots but just -1.
 
to me the OOF areas aren't pleasing to me - makes me a bit dizzy (could be those crates texture). colours look good.

would be nice to see it perform on a FF camera.

The Sigma is quite widely regarded as having nice bokeh but of course bokeh can be heavily subject and background dependent and this shouln't surprise us as how nice a picture looks can depend upon the subject in front of the camera :D
 
I have to send mine back as the images are not sharp despite fine tuning.It is variable when compared to my nikon 85mm 1.8g which is consistently sharp.
