Hi I Own a Sigma APO 400mm f5.6 minolta fit lens for my Sony Alpha 300
but the results are annoyingly soft but full of detail does anyone own one of these so we could compare results & see if mine has a fault or needs servicing

Thanks Rudy :help:

which version?
the only 1/2 decent 1 imo is the last version - the APO Macro (77mm filter thread) - & the Sony 70-400 G SSM blows that away too.

but if you are shooting RAW have you applied sharpening to the images?

err mine is the multicoated & 72mm filter thread & no I've been using Jpeg as I'm not a great fan of image editing

are you applying any sharpening to the jpegs (& which quality jpeg are you using)?

no all in camera set to standard & highest quality jPeg

try applying some sharpening.
also, do you have a filter fitted or shooting through a window?
no condensation on the lens?

right thanks no I've always shot outside & no condensation do you think that's just the quality then ?

can you put up some pics taken with it (your birds appear to be using something else)?

yeah i will do the birds were with a tamron 55-200

not really the best pictures to use (the 1st is underexposed & the 2nd doesn't look in focus) but both are taken at f5.6 - try stopping down.

basically the SSS tries to compensate for non-existent shake & thereby introduces vibration where there was none ...
I guess the algorithms don't allow for the possibility that there was no shake to start with
