Anyone care to chip in with opinions (and the odd fact or two) on the SD15 and DP1M/DP2M/D2X?

I had an SD9 for a while. It was an old model and very clunky. However, Sigma cameras have Foveon sensors which delivers different colours to that of a traditional bayer sensor, found in most DSLRs. The colours to me seem more accurate, more film like is how some describe the output. But high ISO is pants. Really pants!

If you have a look at Luminous Landscape you might find some info. There are reviews and some threads on the forums over there dedicated to the DP1, 2 and 3. They seem to have a loyal fan base and seem to produce very good results.

Check the gear forums over there for threads including talk and sample images from users.

As an outsider looking in... although these cameras seem to have their quirks they seem to be capable of outstanding results.

They're probably all sold out On LL people were clamouring to get these cameras as each came out. Some people seem to have them all.

The DPM cameras look excellent and not being on camera price buster means nothing.

I have recently bought a DP2M and it is quite simply astounding. Yes the interface is a bit dated, it has a fixed lens, not great at video, the raw processing software is dreadful and there's no electronic viewfinder. But the images are incredible and easily beat my EOS 5D mkII for detail and clarity. There's an enthusiastic user group on getdpi at : http://www.getdpi.com/forum/other-cameras/ with lots of example images.

If you try to use it as your only camera you'll struggle. It's a bit like using an Aerial Atom to do the weekly shop, but get it out on the track and nothing can touch it
