Sigma DC 17-70M f2.8-4 OS HSM C - Canon Mount

Wondering if anyone out there uses the above mentioned lens? and what the qaulity is like..

i understand the 2.8 is only at the 17mm end..

Are these a massive step in qaulity from the standard lens that came with my 70d (18-55 STM)

i gather the canon equivilant is the 15-85 or is it the cheaper 17-85?

How do the 3 lens compare with each other?

No one used the above lens then? I see from spec you can put the sigma use adapter on to tweak to focus etc

I bought one for my son but unfortunately he only used it about 4-5 times and it has been sat in the box ever since (lost all interest in photography) The lens was a big improvement over the kit lens, the lens got good reviews and from the pictures that I took with it, the lens was very sharp for what it is, If I didnt use L lenses myself I would have been happy to use it. So its just a £300 paperweight now lol.

Decicded to go with this lens in the end, my only think im thinking now, is if i end up picking up the sigma 150-600 C lens..

I have nothing covering the 70mm- 150mm range..

How much of a issue is this likley to be in the real world, local shop said not a problem just crop a image taken at 70mm and the qaulity will be there still to replicate if i had taken at ranges upto where the 150mm lens will start to be used..

Whats people views on this?, or am i better looking at maybe not spedning has much on 150-600, and get something to go from the 70mm upwards and a 2nd hand telphoto to around 400mm

Depends on what you shoot wether 70-150 will be an issue or not. I wouldnt have really thought so. Common mistake is to cover all the FL just because it seems the right thing to do before you even know what you want to use the lenses for or what subject suits you.

im not a pro and its just a hobby for me, and occasionaly helpinf friends out with bits.. i would say majority of my pics are either family and friends stuff with kids, over park, partys etc.. zoo visits, moto cross x like that is is varied.. just looking through some recent images of late maybe a good idea to see what i use and take from there..
