Hi guys im on a very tight budget but im after a bit of an all rounder! has anyone got or has used a Sigma DC 55-200mm f/4.0-5.6 Lens. found one for a good price but i dont want to waste my money if its no good.
Im only a begginer and it will be going on my canon 1100d.
Thanks

I used one a long time ago and was quite disappointed by it.

I would suggest a second hand Canon 55-250IS rather than a new Sigma 55-200.

Thanks for the input will have a look into it

You didn't mention the price you were getting it for. If it was me, the Sigma would need to be sub £60 to come into consideration. For £80-£90 you can pick up the Canon 55-250 second hand.

It's up for £69
Is the canon lens quite bulky and long! Although picture quality will always come first the sigma seems to be more compact

A quick google shows the 55-250 weighs 390 grams, and is 10.8 cm long, the Sigma weighs 310 grams and is 8.3 cm long.

No one else can tell you whether a lens is the right size or weight for you. If you are more worried by size and weight (and a saving of around £20) buy the Sigma. If image quality matters, buy the Canon.
