I have just recieved my sigma 70-200 2.8 (second hand)

It seems great, but if it is on AF and has to focus a lot it lets out a "squeak"

any ideas what this could be? and should i be worried?

cheers

Hi, I used to own a Sigma prime lens that developed a squeak, luckily it was under warranty from the shop I bought it from and it needed a repair on the AF motor, so I would be concerned with your one too. It might be nothing but worth checking out. Give sigma a call. Mike

It wont be under warranty any more as its second hand and i hae no reciept or box.

but i will take it to the camera shop tomorrow and see what they say.

if in needs fixing i will have to complain that the item is not as described.

thanks for the advice.

Sigma do a free 3 year warranty on EX lenses, I'd give them a call, also their repair rates will be cheaper than a shop

I had a 100-300 f4 that had the same problem. It was also 'used' and well under the 3 year warranty.

I rang Sigma thinking I could get it repaired under warranty, but, their warranties are not transferable, unlike Canon, and it cost me just £100.
