I have a Sigma zoom 28-300mm DG Macro 1:3.5-6.3 lens and recently it seems to have developed a yellowish tinge to ny pictures.

I used to use it on a Canon 10D but have recently bought a Canon 550D and since using the 550D I have noticed the yellowish tinge.

Its a bit of a pain as when I play about with the pictures in Photoshop the tinge distorts the colour and totally changes the colour when it comes to processing the picture. It also seems to pixelate the pictures too

Why would this be?

Two possible causes:

The Auto WB calibration in the camera could be out; although it's showing 5200K, which should be OK.

The Jpeg engine is off balance, if you aren't shooting RAW.
 
As above, White balance.

It won't be the lens...
 
Can the White Balance change when different lenses are used? The 18-55mm lens that I got with the camera doesn't have a problem

I've just been looking through the camera manual, but that doesn't make too much sense
 
Sigma lenses can be a tad warmer than their Canon counterparts though not usually to any degree worth worrying about. If it bothers you just adjust the white balance a touch to cool it down. Your closup shot looks a bit overexposed so that may have contributed to the colour difference.

It seems odd that it would be ok on the 10D but not on the 550D. I used one on a 300D, 10D and 20D without problem.

You should be able to pin it down more by looking at the image and exif of correctly exposed shots with the same framing, diffferently framed shots could be hard to judge.
 
Thanks guys, I'll give your ideas, thoughts a go and see how I get on. I tested the lens on my dads 30D and didn't get any tinge
