Sigma Second Hand

Hello.

I might have sold my 400D and a few bits so im going to get a new lens. As some of you may know I was looking at the 18-50mm sigma which is 2.8 through all focal lengths and the 17-70mm sigma which starts at 2.8 then goes up to f/4. The lens is to replace the focal length of the 18-55mm kit lens. I have a 10-20mm sigma and a 55-250mm canon lens also.

I will be buying second hand (well the 18-50mm sigma I could get brand-new as I have £200 max to spend). However I have noticed a lot of them second hand (sigma 17-70/18-50mm) on MPB Photographic say a little dust within the lens but doesn't effect the optics. Should I still buy them even though they say this? If I was to get the 18-50mm I may as well buy brand-new as its only £40-£50 more for brand-new with no dust at all

ive had a couple of 18-50 2.8 HSM "macro" and theyre excellent little lenses.

a little internal dust doesn't normally effect image quality but MPB are very good and im sure if youre not happy they'll take it back (check this first).

As you have a 55-200, there is no need for a 17-70, as you have the 55-70 already covered. better bet is to get the 18-50. For the sake of £40 buy new so you'll get a guarantee with it.

Yeah I just thought in the future if I get a 70-200 or something the 17-70 be good and it will work out as a good walk about lens as I wont need to change lens for that extra zoom.

If the images are a lot sharper with the 18-50 then ide go for that.

EDIT: Just seen this. Surely the 18-50mm is better as its "EX" and has the gold ring?
