Hi Guys,

As no doubt all of you know I'm on the lookout for the Nikkor 300 F/4 AF-S, what you might not know is that I just bought a Sigma 100-300 F/4 as a stop gap so that I don't have to rush for a lens for the airshow season, I know its not as sharp wide open but tbh the copy I have here is pretty impressive.

I've just been offered a Sigma 1.4x TC for a reasonable price, given today's prices, its obviously compatible with the Sigma 100-300 but I don't know if it will work with the Nikkor 300 F/4 AF-S has anyone tried this combo? Does it report lens info correctly etc?

*Note - No comments on using TC's with zooms please, I've seen good results from the sigma combo online and if I'm not happy with the IQ I'm sure I can sell it on...

Thanks
-Rob

I could be wrong but I think only the genuine Nikon one gives the correct EXIF data, I know my Kenko didn't , it still showed the settings dialed into the lens.

I don't mind too much about the EXIF so much as making sure that the metering plays nice, I recall reading somewhere about there being some issues with TC's causing some confusion and wanted to check here before I waste time on something that won't work.

I have been using my Sigma 1.4x on my Nikon 70-300 Vr today and it functioned fine if that is any help...

Certainly with my sigma 70-200 2.8 and the 2x, the metadata is completely right, passed to the camera as 140-400 f5.6....

It works.....but it ain`t great.

Cheers.
