I've read a few people on here complain about the sigma 30mm f1.4. You guys will be happy to know that there be a replacement in the coming months.

[edit] nm, I see this is for AP-C, i thought it odd to bring this out considering their recent 35mm 1.4, makes more sense now.

Anyone know when this will be available to buy and the approximate street price?
 
I noticed someone asking about this lens on a Camera store facebook page, they got a reply saying they had it in stock and gave a price. It's the older version they have, the customer specifically said the "new Art version" - just be aware, if anyone says they have it right now, it'll be the older version.
 
So £399 here, looking at current price trends of the 35mm. Hopefully the 50 and 85 are done next, the older versions will be sold off cheap(er).

The 35mm f1.4 is a full frame lens, this one is APS-C only.

I had the original and used it on my 20D and only sold it when I went FF. It was a geat lens, sharp from f1.4 and did everything I asked of it. The only critisisms I can make are that it's a bit chunky (but tiny compared to the 35mm) and the focus ring felt a bit gritty when used manually, I tried another in a shop and it felt just the same.

If this new one is the same or better optically and a bit better mechanically it'll be a very good lens :D
 
Hmm. I thought the fact that it's for aps-c was cleared up earlier in the thread.

I presumed that Tony was saying if it turns out to be as impressive as the new 35mm, then it'll be great.

Twist then said "it's not". I wondered if he speaks from experience & may have been able to try one. :shrug:
 
I would say he's just assuming it's not going to be built quite as well, and probably won't be as great optically, being a DX only lens. It'll be a lot cheaper though, I would imagine.
