Socks aren't a bad idea actually. I got some cloth pouches when I bought a load.

I believe there's a special plastic bag you can get that isn't air tight. But I bet that's more expensive than socks.

One 50gram bag, how long does it last in a jungle environment and will it be enough for a large peli case ?

IIRC a bag was pretty much useless after a couple of days. But they might have been bigger than 50g.

That was in the "carry on" size Peli roller.

BTW make sure the spare bags are well sealed in plastic bags and take all caps off the cameras and lenses for overnight in the Peli.

Damn, I thought it would be tough to fit a 50gram one in a Peli 1600 ? Since it's on top of everything else.

So you'd take the cap off the camera body, won't the eggshell foam at the top touch the mirror?

There was no space for foam in my Peli case ;)

Where are you going? We were at about 90% humidity (rough translation: a quick dry shirt guaranteed to dry in 6 hours took about 3 days on the line)

The Jungle will be hotter. Humidity will be very high.

One small point about keeping charged dessicant bags charged.

Most types of plastic bags are not gas impermiable, that is over time your gel bag will still absorb mositure through the plastic bag.

You really need gas impermiable bags to be sure your stock of charged gel bags stay useful. I think the foil resealable bags they sell for food would do.
