Silver Nitrate At Sensible Prices

For those that are into alternative processes, I happened to try searching for Silver Nitrate on eBay the other day, and found a couple of sellers offering it at rather better prices than the norm - at Silverprint, it's £175 for 100g, which is fairly typical these days.

I found this seller offering it at £85 for 100g, and was able to haggle it down to £75 each for two bottles...

Note that it's £90 in that listing - there were two left in the listing I bought from, which went to zero soon after, and then the above appeared. As mentioned, scope to haggle - I started with a cheeky offer of £60, and ended up at £75. However, that looks like someone that has it in short supply (also sells clothing!)

This place specialises in chemicals and is only a bit dearer, and still much better than most...

£100 for 100g with varying unit cost for more and less weight.

I can confirm that the stuff I bought works...

It's a comparison with a batch I got a few years ago before the prices shot up - new stuff is A, old stuff is B. UV lamp to accelerate darkening (and turps bottle just to hold the lamp up). A few granules of each were dropped onto a little pool of Potassium Iodide solution on the bits of paper. The difference in density is due to me unintentionally putting a bit more of the new stuff into A.
