Simon's 52 for 2025

Nice set of pictures Simon, some of the shadows are even geometric in your chosen shot

Fab stuff - the first three float me boat :p

Got to love a pier - and that looks like a very posh one!

Could you not have arranged the people to be a bit more symmetrical? Oh, and the buildings beyond?

No, seriously, good work.

Thanks Paul. Yea, the people ruin it a bit. But it’s generally busy. I was lucky to get all the benches free.
Really good idea for symmetry
Thank you Allan.

Great set of b&w geometrics Simon. I really like the one you've chosen.
Your symmetry shot is spot on, you've even managed to catch two similar men with blue shirts :D

It Apiers you've nailed that one Simon :)

Week 21 - Light and Dark

This is a shot taken from the inside the old limeworks at East Aberthaw on the Vale of Glamorgan coast, looking out though an exit to wards the coast and Bristol Channel.

The second photo shows the building for context. The photo was shot through the tall arched opening in the centre of the front facing wall.

Nice one Simon :)

Week 22 - Figures

Two shots (the second a crop of the first) of two distant figures on the "beach" at Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan. The second cropped places a little more emphasis on the two people, but I prefer the wider panorama (and bleakness) of the first shot still with the two figures as a focal point as they decide whether or not it's worth going into the silty water off Penarth Head. (You wouldn't get me in there for love nor money)!

Nicely done Simon. I think I'd have used the crop to take them more off centre.

I really like the image Simon, interesting comment about the cropping. I might have gone with a 16:9 crop, keeping the top of the image in frame and leaving the black seaweed out.

I've also recently been playing with a cinematic crop for some of my shots like this, 65:24. Gives some interesting results. I got the idea after watching one of James Popsys' videos on YouTube.

Cheers for the appreciation and comments Bill. Food for thought.

Week 23 - Vertical

A shot of the England v West Indies one day internationals cricket match in Cardiff yesterday, with the talll vertical floodlights in action.

As an aside, for those that follow cricket, I witnessed first hand one of the greatest ODI innings ever, by Joe Root who came in int the first over and carried his bat for 166 not out to win the game for England.
