Simply suggest me a lens?

I've got three zooms and one prime also, so I've been thinking another prime wouldn't go amiss...

First thought was 70-200 F2.8 but looking at your flickr I see you don't do much low light stuff. Is that bacause you don't have a fast lens or just because you prefer more brighter scenes?

The 2.8 would give you a few more options and is great for people pictures

No, that's a good shout...

Do like to capture candids of my kids when out and about but just have heard of many saying they leave the 70-200 f2.8 at home as it's such a beast to lug around....

Good light? I usually end up pushing the ISO up when trying to capture birds in the garden this time of year....but in the summer it's OK....I don't use the 70-200 indoors and have a flash when taking birthday parties etc when I would usually pop the 17-50 on.

thanks for your input...

85mm 1.8 for some of your portrait work? i have one and its very nice, you can have about half your budget left to buy something else too

I guess when it comes down to price only you can answer that one - for me it would be worth it but everyone's needs/wallets are different :)

A quick ebay check sees a used 70-200 2.8 IS for £1100. And your's will go for about £425 (assuming it's non IS). A 2.8 non-IS went for £717. So it'll cost you about £700 to for a 70-200 2.8IS or £300 to gor for a 70-200 2.8 non-IS.
