Single strobe/umbrella techniques

So, I now have my SB-600, a lightstand/brolly and a reflector.

Do any of you have any techniques to use with this kit to make the best use of what I have?

I've seen a few pictures that depict a lighting set up that show how best to place the kit in a given situation.

Is there any web site that might show such info?

Any help would be appreciated for a newbie to strobism.
