Skater Rats....

I was at the local Skate Park a couple of nights back, and took a few portrait pics of some of the local Skater Rats. They are quite dark, because i was trying to mess around with the ambient light, and not use the flash unit. The main kid in them is called Gordy, he is insane, i swear he has A.D.D. He spends 24 hours a day hyper. But he is funny as hell, this nite he thought he was having a heart attack, he is only 15 Anyway, see what you think, and let me know as always, cheers.

Youre right, way too dark. And they just look like snapshots really.

Sod the ambient light, get the flash on

Sorry, look like under-exposed snapshots to me.

Try thinking more about composition. This guy is a skater rat, apparently, so try to convey that with the scenery, the composition, and the lighting.

Not too troubled by the darkness of the image but the bright floodlight is distracting. There is definitely some milage in this idea.

shame you didn't use a bit of flash, even just to fill in the face a bit, his expressions are awesome! ask him to do a half out session sometime, you could get some awesome shots out of it!
