Good thing the BBC are so current with their news ;) only about 3 weeks after the story actually broke.

Fair enough, I guess they are catching up after the Olympics.

Great to see Auntie on the ball as usual :)

I ordered my 650 well over a month ago and the supplier was unable to ship the camera until Canon declared it safe to do so. Those affected were recalled from the suppliers and the odd few still out there are checkable via the Canon website.

I called Canon regarding this and there is an unlimited lifetime warranty on the grip should it need to be changed.

It was a batch made in 2 weeks and there's around 68,000 affected bodies. Most were caught on recall before they were sold and various reports reckon it the skin rash COULD affect about 1 person in a 1,000 while the grip may turn white with prolonged use. I bought one when they were first released and after checking my serial number I know mine's ok. I doubt now that the BEEB has finally broken the story there'll be many at all on the shelves with aproblem.
