This image shows the intricate internal structure of the backward-facing barbs in the roof of the puffin's mouth enabling it to catch multiple sandeels in each fishing trip. The jaw also opens almost parallel unlike ours which is articulated like a hinge. Taken with a Nikon D800 and 300mm lens at F11, 1/1250sec, -0.3 exposure comp at ISO 1000.
