Skyline R34- Snow

Went out tonight with a friend to try a few new shots in the snow.

We went to a location that had no lighting at all so i used a flash gun and a high iso knowing id get noise.

Here is the result straight off the camera...does anyone know any techniques to make this image look slightly better, i only have photoshop cs4 to post proccess.

This is how i want it but obviously if theres anyway i can lose some of the Noise and maybe make it a bit sharper. I understand the focus isnt right either.

Can't help with the noise reduction but for focal sharpness at night, next time use a torch or lantern to light your subject whilst focusing, then knock to manual focus so the camera doesn't keep trying to adjust.

It looks like you have used the flash twice on the front of the car. I'm not sure why you upped the ISO, as you should have been using a tripod and slowed the shutter speed instead.

Focus doesn't seem too big an issue - more just soft from the noise..

I used a tripod, Shutter @ 30secs Aperture @ 14 i think and iso was up at 1600 as it just didnt light anything up below that.

Yes i used the flash twice during the 30 second exposure

Just for clarity, your shots were at f/22 at Iso 800.

Agggh how do you find out the exif?

I know i was shooting between 14-22a and iso 800-1600

why not shoot at f/11 ISO200 if you were disappointed with the noise?

with the shutter speed at 30 seconds the iso at 200 i still didnt get pleasing results with the use of the flash.

We are going out to try this again so any thoughts on how to get this effect...the use of a torch was a good idea.

yea, but the exposure will be the same with f/11 iso 200 as f/22 iso 800.

Nope....f/14 at Iso 400 for the latest shot posted...looks to be a little cleaner too

Agggh how do you find out the exif?

I use Opanda EXIF viewer....grab it here if you want it

Took the liberty of running your photo's through Noiseware. The results are a little limited due to the size of the originals I was working with. Would be far better to use a longer exposure, lower ISO and shoot in raw.

I can see what your aiming for and your not a million miles away

You have now....Ive been lucky enough to have seen 2. Very rare colour in the UK. Most are found in the USA and Japan.
