I love my 1D and 1Ds built-in portrait grip and of course the duplicate buttons for portrait orientation shooting . I can't stand the bulbous battery grip on a 5D or 7D, and I don't need the extra battery power or even the extra weight.
So, is there an accessory maker out there that has created a slimline portrait grip that comes with shutter button + other controls but isn't HUGE enough to accomodate a pair of Canon batteries? I don't mind if it has integrated time lapse stuff etc rolled into it, just as long as it's about half the size of a normal battery grip.
It might be impossible to create a grip that doesn't take over the camera's battery compartment because that's where the current grips have their contact points.. but there's also a separate accessory port at least on the 7D bottom.
