SLING-type camera backpack

Good morning all,
I want to buy a sling-type camera backpack to use (say) on holiday so that I can take my 50D and lenses. Until now, I have tended to take a G12 with me because it's so light and portable (at least compared to my other kit).
From my research, I'm down to a shortlist of Lowepro Slingshot, Kata "3N1" and "123 Go" ranges and Tamrac Evolution. Critical requirments are that the bag will be allowed on a flight as cabin baggage and that there is at least some space for a jacket, water bottle, etc. I'm not sure why but I don't seem to be able to see anything about the Kata "123 Go" range on their website - unless I'm looking in the wrong place.
Although I've seen a few places with the Lowepro range, I'm not having a lot of luck finding places (on the high street) where I can see & try on both the Tamrac and Kata bags. If possible, I don't really want to purchase anything without having seen it first.
So I guess my question is whether any fellow members who have first hand experience of using any of the Kata/Tamrac bags would care to kindly let me have their thoughts.

I have a Vanguard Biin 47. I love it (i know its not on your list) but I just thouht Id share :)

Bottom compartment holds my 1000D with 70-300 lens, plus my Samyang Fisheye and 18-55 kit lens.

Top compartment hold my filters, remote and other accessories. Has access on the side to get the camera out.

Also has a strap which comes up and clips into the main strap. very secure and easy enough to get your camera out if needed in a hurry

I had the Lowepro Slingshot 200AW, and it was an excellent bag. Would have easily made it onto an aircraft in terms of size, and contained a 400d with 17-50 2.8 attached, 10-20, 55-250, flash, filters and battery grip + chargers. There is no way however that you could also fit a jacket in, even a squashy one. The next size up bag was quite a lot bigger, I'd certainly check the measurements for cabin luggage.
