Hi everyone.

I'm just after a little advice please.
Will this bag take a D300 with 70-200f2.8 attached? And also are the dimensions of the bag acceptable as hand luggage on a plane?

Thank you.

Hi, not sure of the dimensions of the D300, but my D90 with 70-200VR fits in my Slingshot 300 with a little room left.

Cant help you with the hand luggage though. Best to check on the airlines website or something.

Justin

Thanks Justin.

I've just checked the Easyjet regs and it is well in for height and width.
It is however, 3cm too deep.:|

Real life world - the 300 that I have measures 20cm deep (as of 5 mins ago). That's obviously without packing anything in the front pocket. The Easyjet site states a max of 20cm. Also, unless you pack it solidly with no give, the bag will compress smaller when pushed in to a measuring frame.

Also, the standard size measuring frames at airports are 56cm x 45cm x 25cm so unless Easyjet have had their own size made up specially, and also rigidly check everybody's hand baggage size, I can't see you having a problem.

Finally, you can also take stuff out and put it in your pockets until you're in the clear.

It will certainly fit in the standard size required for the UK and US transport authorities, the extra restrictions on SIZE since 9/11 have been lifted, however you are still limited to 1 piece (or 1+laptop on some airlines).
However, restrictions on content are still in place.
Airlines such as easyjet may still have the more strict restrictions in place unfortunately, saves them fuel.

i would of thought it would fit.. does this help at all for illustration?

one of the product icons on the lowepro site for this bag is "airline carry on". but then the amount of airlines that vary it may not be for all..

I fit my 1Ds mk3 with 70-200 f2.8L IS attached to it in the main compartment, with the lens hood on in reverse, and also the 24-70 f2.8L beside it in one of the adjustable compartments. I don't know how this compares with the D300, but I imagine the canon will be larger.

Thanks guys.

I think I will probably go for this one, but will take my kit into the shop and try it out.

Ive personally....never had any issus withy taking my camera bag and a smaller hand luggage bag on boardwith me..one of the benifits of the many self check ins thata lot of the airlines use nowadays is its often a bit easier to getaway with sneaking an extra bag on without too much drama. Just may need to think about your packing if your thinking of bringing a tripod with you as chances are you wont be able to bring it on a s hand luggage.

Just to let you know i had my D90 with 70-200VR & Nikon 1.4x TC attached + lens hood reversed today and it just fitted in the main middle compartment.

So i would say it would be fine.
