SLOW COMPUTER

Hi, in the last week or so my computer has gone from a good speedy machine to very very slow. I checked the task manager at start up and it said I have 67 applications running. Could this be the problem?? The file names mean nothing to me and I'm not sure whether deleting them is a good idea....or am I barking up the wrong tree??
Any advice would be appreciated.

to go run - then type in msconfig - and remove a load of startup programs and restart. It will help give it a try.

try super anti spyware - or one of the other freebies sounds like a trojan to me

i'd do all of the above then download and run a program called ccleaner
