There is unfortunately no such thing as an adapter to fit a SLR lens onto a DSLR (as they are actually the same thing). An SLR is a Single Lens Reflex camera, and whether digital or film will essentially have the same mount as each other (the same make, of course, and not accounting for idiosyncrasies like EF-S on Canon).

Do you mean an adapter to use a lens of a different lens mount on a camera?

Yeah. Just found out the lens is a minolta which goes on a old film camera and mine is a 400D. I think this is what I need:

That should work fine, as I recall the old Minolta manual focus had an aperture ring so other than AF the lens should function correctly.

The first link is to a Pentax K fit Optimax zoom lens.

The second link is to a Minolta to Eos adapter.

So, will a Pentax K fit Optimax lens fit a Minolta to Eos adapter?

And, note that it's a zoom lens and not a true macro lens.

I answered it as a MD lens (that post was at 13:41, the original one about the Pentax zoom lens was edited to add the eBay link at 13:26).

I did really know what you meant and should have added more :D or just not have posted at all :D but devilment took me! :razz: :D

And to add something positive...

I recently bought an old Minolta 55mm lens and I'm very happy with it, I hope that the OP is happy with his lens too. :D

Sorry. I was searching for lenses on ebay which looked like the one I had received. I didn't notice what make the lens was for until after I had posted the thread. I was given the lens free so im thinking would it be worth spending the £10/£15 on the adapter ring and use it?
 
Yes, for that sort of money it'd be worth playing with for sure. Especially as there's a family connection.

its an old zoom, dont expect the same performance as any modern lens, and keep in mind, it isnt actually a macro lens.
