SLRHut - Take Care!

[jon ryan]

SLRHut have some prices that are so good as to be suspicious. On checking, you learn that the headline price does not include duty. A Canon 70-200 EF 2.8 IS Mk2 is listed at £1,380. `Duty` adds another £276. The site does not say if this is customs duty or excise duty. There is no mention of VAT.

The pic on Google Street View does not seem to show any camera shops.

Watch it!

Well, £276 is exactly 20% of £1380 so it looks suspiciously like VAT to me.

Advertising prices without VAT is illegal unless the web site is catering only to businesses, which this one clearly isn't.
