Small bag for gripped D300?

I'm looking at getting a small Tamrac or Lowepro top loading shoulder bag, however I'm flummoxed by sizes. It doesn't have to accommodate a superzoom, it's the width at the top I'm concerned with. I have a messanger bag and a backpack already.

Anyone have any experience with this matter?
