Small Camera Advice - Travel

We're looking to make another trip out to Florida next year for Disney World and I'm wondering what would be a good travel camera? We don't want anything too big or bulky as we won't be carrying a bag around, so pocket size is a must.

We will be taking lots and lots of portraits, fast paced with limited time with characters holding a pose. Quality is important, I wouldn't be happy simply using an iPhone.

Really depends on your budget and whether or not it needs to be truly "pocketable"?
 
Sony RX100, will put a lot of DSLRs to shame and fit in your pocket. Its the one camera i wouldn't be without.

Budget isn't really too much of an issue in this category of camera but it absolutely has to fit in a jacket/pants pocket. We refuse to carry a bag around the parks and I can't have anything loose on the rides.

In that case I'd echo what Rob says. RX100 version i,ii or iii. Depending on budget.

I should also say that I need something fairly simple to operate. Firstly because I may need to setup a shot quickly, but also because it may be someone else taking the picture whom I've just handed the camera to.
 
It has a full auto mode for times like that, an intelligent auto and various scene modes. Also a pre-focus for when you hand it to someone else.

RX100 is one of, if not the best, point and shoots on the market..... but at the end of the day, it still has auto and a button on the top just like any other camera :D
 
I've got a Canon Powershot S110 (had a S95 before) and they are great cameras for portability vs. image quality debate. Not as good as the RX100 series I think but they are cheaper and still really good. It's my go to camera when I don't have my dSLR.

I'd second this if the RX100 is out of your price range.
 
+1 for the RX100. I picked up the M2 version recently and very pleased with it.
