Small camera bags

Hi, I use a Kata backpack for my camera gear, but sometimes I like to take my camera body and one lens on a walk. My problem is despite trawling the Internet, I can't seem to find a small bag that will take a gripped Canon 400D and a small zoom lens.
Most of the styles of bag I have looked at can't take a battery grip, and yes I know I can take the grip off, but I don't want to. Even the neoprene wraps that are available to use with a normal rucksack or bag won't take a gripped body.
Is there anyone out there who can suggest something suitable.

I think Morris Photographic do neoprene wraps which can take gripped bodies
 
I've got an ancient Converse messenger bag. Takes a gripped 1000D and 70-300lens. Has internal pockets for odds and sods. The downer is I'm very aware of the lack of protection.
 
Another vote for crumpler :) i use a pretty boy shoulder bag, i think its the medium one.

Go into a camera shop near you and just try out the bags they have in store
 
I use a Lowepro toploader when I can't be bothered to drag my rucksack around - they're excellent. Plenty of room for a gripped camera and plenty of pocket space for spare batteries, cards, lenspen, polariser etc etc :)
 
Have a look at this thread, I reckon my 550d would still fit in with a grip. I bought specifically to accomodate the body with a 70-300 attached (which it does)
Take your camera to the shop like I did to try it out, there are 4 different sizes- the one I got is the biggest one I think and seems well padded on all sides with lots of nooks and crannies and for £9 you cant go wrong :)
