Small camera for wildlife and birds?

One of the members at my local bird club recently dropped her camera and she is now in the market for a new one. With me never having had a small camera in recent years I wondered if someone could help her choose a camera.

When she asked for help, she had narrowed her selection down to three cameras, Panasonic Lumix FZ200, Canon Powershot 50 Zoom and the Nikon D1100. Her main use for the camera is on walks where she takes images of birds and wildlife.

Any help or advice that I can pass on would be most welcome.
 
won't go far wrong with the canon sx50
 
The only advice I can offer (since it appears that she's done her homework and has drawn up a shortlist) is for her to visit a shop which stocks as many as possible of the list (or even a couple of shops to have a play with them all!) and to leave the shop with the camera that feels best I her hands (as long as it give decent results as well as feeling right).
 
Canon sx50 would be my vote too. Canon squeeze amazing image quality from a compact size sensor and have excellent anti-shake technology, plus tat camera has an enormous zoom range, which will be useful for getting in close to wildlife.
 
The FZ200 does have a shorter zoom range than the sx50, but does have a constant max aperture of f/2.8. It is more expensive but that looks an attractive feature.

Canon SX50 for me as well. Cracking camera and the best IS I have ever come across for hand held photo's. Took this shot yesterday morning.
