I'm going to be going to a small gig later this month as a friend of mine and his band are playing. I will have my Canon 50mm F1.8 as I need fast glass, but I'm after some hints on what ISO and Shutter Speed to use? Would rather not use a flash as he has said it becomes very annoying. Not sure how great lighting will be, but I assume it wont be very good.
Thanks for any advice and wish me luck!

Settings will vary all over the place, just set the aperture as open as you dare for dof/focus issues, shutter speed as slow as you dare for shake/action issues and ride the iso.

I'd be shooting manual, especially if there are flashing lights metering will be all over place and you don't want too many things to worry about happening at once. Only issue is if the lights are flashing on the subject one of the semi-auto modes might work better for you but if thats the case you could have probably just used your own flash anyway.

For half decent shutter speeds you'll probably need ISO 3200 so if you really don't want to use flash I'd use manual settings and auto ISO or TV to keep the shutter fast enough and let ISO do the rest, I'd try to expose to the right too to try and keep the noise down.
