I visited a local site for these on Tuesday evening, hoping to catch them as they settled to roost for the night. Once settled, they are reluctant to move, so I was able to set up my tripod and try some stacked shots.

These were by a stream fringed by trees and with abundant bracken, which gave an overall greenish cast to the light, and also made for rather nice perches and a pleasing background.

I got so many midge bites while I was taking these, but it was worth it to get some decent shots!

I must say that my eye for composition has improved a lot since I joined this forum thanks to the many excellent photos I've seen on here.
