Smallest canon compatible flash with rotate and tilt

Hi all,


Just got a g9 for underwater. What is the smallest hot shoe flash i can put on it that has 270 rotate equivalent to a my sb600? I am considering leaving my d90 at home on our 2 week trip, but since we are at 2 weddings in that time i would want some flash. A 430 is too big for the g9. The smaller canon flashes don't rotate, only bounce. Any other options?

Ch3eck your G9 manual there is a flash made specially for it its shown in the manual, Cannot remember the model number of hand but sounds just what you want

hi mark,

in the manual it lists the 230, 430, and 580 speedlights. The 230 doesn't rotate, but is a good size. the 430 is big, but has full functionality. They also list the HF-DC1 which is a consumer add on for their powershot series, but that looks quite fiddly and still doesn't rotate or tilt (though since it is wireless I could manually do that).

It looks like I might have to use my SB-600 in manual mode as what I'm looking for doesn't really exist.

Sorry my fault the one I was thinking of the HF-DC1 doesnt tilt.

Although it doesn't rotate i love my small 270EXII flash. It does tilt, and can be used as a slave. It can even be used as a wireless remote if the camera supports the usual RC6 type of remote.
I tend to use it more than my 580EXII these days.
