I noticed on Redsnapper site they also have a couple of bags. Has any one tried them?

What i am looking at is this. I will be mountain biking and will want to take the camera.

Has any got any recomendations for backpacks, (half Size)

I'm thinking the same as you, do mountain biking myself and also trecking and the redsnapper bags look good value for money.

I saw a thread on here a while back, where someone thought they had trashed their camera through the vibrations whilst mountain biking.

I've got the red snapper verso that can be either a shoulder bag or a backpack. While I think it's a great bag for my needs, well padded and large enough to hold my camera, 3 lenses and a flash leaving the top free for sandwiches etc, I'm not sure if it would be what you need. Between the top and the bottom half of the bag is a padded divider that attaches all the way around with velcro, I'm not sure how well it would do at staying in place while bouncing about on a mountain bike. It may well stay in place, but not being a mountain biker I couldn't say how bouncy things get.

Quality wise, I'm impressed - It's well stitched, comes with decent padding (much more than was in my Jimmy-Bo Crumpler), the zips are nice and chunky, the straps are nicely padded and it even has a pouch and bungee cords you can lash a tripod to. I'd assume that the other redsnapper bags are of a similar build quality.

Sorry, I cannot find the thread (spent around an hour searching). Basically this person took their camera on a mountain bike run (possibly in france?) came back with it kinda shaken to pieces. I think that they may have had it on the bike bags rather than their back. I seem to remember some discussion about how having the camera on their back would cause them to be top heavy?

I've got the all terrain backpack and it's a monster! Wouldn't want to get it muddy and wet though, it'd weigh a tonne. To be honest mine doesn't go on my back all that often, I kind of use it as a central store and use my crumplers for our and about. But as for quality, I'd have no hesitation in recommending Red Snapper.
