Has anyone got any experience of shooting snooker? I am covering a few days of the Welsh Open this week and have never been before, so any advice would be helpful.

nope, sorry, and shifting to the right section :)

I have a tiny bit, but only of my dad and friends playing a few weeks ago. Don't know what you need to know. I shot with my 50mm at f1.8. The lights over the table were easily bright enough to get a reasonably quick shutter speed. Have a look in the sports section for my thread. I'm a complete noob, but was very happy with my noobish results. :D

I shot the Bensen Hedges world championships in Preston for a few years. I was allowed to have the interview rooms with a table set up before the BBC and got to shoot all the players doing every shot posed.

When shooting live you will need fast glass. Or a very fast zoom. We used Canon F4 400mm. Which last i looked was 4k. If you have not one of those lens I would hire for the time needed. Mags like the subject sharp and background way out of focus. So a minimum DoF.

This is who I used to work for..... Look at their snooker shots...

Fast glass isn't a worry, all f2.8s so will be fine, cheers for the advice, will only be sending to the papers and doubt much will get used unless Ronnie does something interesting.
