Daft question but I'm pretty sure my Core 2 duo mac is 64bit as is Tiger. If i load Leopard will that be 64bit also? Will it speed up my machine running Snow Leopard?
The most significant gains come you have more than 4GB of RAM installed and are using applications that will need more than that, in which case 64 bit apps can take advantage of the extra memory.
If you're regularly working with large/lots of photoshop documents, it's worth it.
There are some other improvements to do with the way the virtual memory system works and the kernel operates, which may make some difference to the performance of your Mac. Whether it will be noticeable is a bit of a moot point.
