snow settingsfor 5D mk11

I got a 5D mk11 to take to Svalbard,So i not only have an unfamiliar camera but want to deal with the pics i am likely to take featuring predominately snow scenes,I plan to shoot raw with jpeg embedded,any suggestions please.

If the scene you shoot is predominantly snow it will fool your cameras meter reading.
To avoid grey snow make sure you expose to the right and check your histogram.

For scenes that are predominantly snow, you will almost certainly need to dial in some exposure compensation. How much will depend on the available light.

In the recent UK snowfall, with sun out, I was dialling in + 1 1/3 to +2 exposure compensation to ensure I achieved the correct exposure. You can also check the histogram as suggested if you are familiar with it - to ensure you have not over exposed the image
