Hey all, some shots from our 4 day weekend at the end of Feb. Did loads of walking, about 8 miles a day - Plenty of snow knocking about as well

Day 1

Walk up to Cwm Idwal, mega cold and windy! dry though :)

then walked up higher to ridge on the right of the lake, could hardly stand up due to the wind - shame the photo doesn't portray the snot running across your face, eyes watering and non feeling of fingers, even in gloves LOL

Dropped back down to the lake and went around up the path towards Devil's Kitchen, path made up of boulders was lost under slush and ice and we lost the path someway up causing us to scramble across the face of the hill, pretty scary but a big achievement once at the top!

Day 2

Headed off to do the Miner's Track, it's one of six paths which go all the way to the summit of Snowdon. We knew we wouldn't make it to the top as weather was low and conditions under foot wouldn't be good enough.

further up the track met another lake

circled the lake and carried on going up but weather closed in, heavy snow settling over the path about 1 inch in 3 mins ~ decided it was best to head back (y)

Love those shots, especially the panoramics.
I think the contrasty graphic look gives a real sense of the raw cold wind.(y)

Wonderful series Drew :clap::clap::clap:

I hate this bloody country sometimes, but seeing shots like this make me love it again!

Wow! I am heading that way in June for a camera club holiday so i cant wait to try and emulate some of these! Stunning set i think.

Can you tell us what you used to take them? Did you use any special paneramic heads for your trip or anything and also what about filters and so on?

Thanks

Great set, you should be proud of these indeed. Thanks for sharing.

Agree, great panoramics...but all are top notch. captured great. well done,,,

The colours are fabulous. You have managed to make what looks like quite a 'flat' day look great. Top notch.

Thanks, forgot to mention all these were shot with 7D + 17-40 f/4L in portrait orientation, and also 2 and 3 stop soft graduated neutral density filters stacked (and CPL on the water ones) - then about 6/7 shots stitched together in CS3 Photomerge

Awesome set (y)

Thanks :)

A really excellent series of photos those, I particulary like the Afon Cwm Llan one, well done!

 Wow... I just love these. Snowdonia is one of, if not THE fav loaction of mine. Went there again last year with my boy and did the Watkin Path this time but too many people around to take any interesting shots.

You've taken, and created some excellent photos, and I particularly like the fact that they are not over processed.

Love 'em.

Very nice. No. 2 (Llyn Idwal Panoramic) is my favourite. If i was being picky i would say the skies are a bit uninteresting in general but you've kept them to a minimum feature anyway.

Super set the stuff of postcards, very hard to pick one out but if pressed I would have to say Afon Cwm Llan you have captured antastic balance between saving the scene but stiil giving the sense of movement. Very well done:clap:

A great set Drew, makes me want to get out and brave the winter when it comes.....though i'm sure i'll have chickened out of that when it does come.
