It looks like my partner and I are having a week in Snowdonia later this year (early autumn sometime) staying near Harlech. I've not been to Snowdonia apart from one weekend as a teenager (sometime back in neolithic times) and he's never been there. Photography is on the agenda obviously but we are both into hill walking and he's a non togger, so it'll be mainly togging while out walking. Snowdon itself is already on the list but can anyone suggest good walking areas or websites of walks (something like Walkhighlands in Scotland)? I'm sure there must be lots but we only decided to go there last night so I haven't looked yet. We'd like to get a good overall feel for the area so we'd like walks that cover hill and coast with other places of interest (castles etc) we can go to if the weather's duff. Anything that also covers wildlife would be a bonus. We'll be staying in a coastal village so hopefully that will yield some good sunsets. Our usual holiday haunt is north west Scotland so Snowdonia really is all new to us.

Pick a hill any hill, esp hills nearer the coast and you will have a great walk. If it aint raining. The castle along the coast are great. The copper mine on Angelsey is martion.
Take waterproof bag.

One of the best route websites for the classic Snowdonia walks - something for everyone on there.

Oddly it misses out a few of my favourite routes include Moel Siabod.

Lots more alternative walks in there too.

If the mountains are a bit dicy weatherwise, then I'd recommend heading to Llanddwyn Island; wonderfully photogenic.

I'm off up there in a week's time.
Have fun!

Some great ideas there Duncan - thanks. Though I might give Moel Siabod a miss. It's the bit about the 'fun scramble ascent..........' - makes me go weak at the knees.
I'll happily take anyone up that ridge; it offers routes for all abilities.
Basically, the right edge is full-on scrambling and the left edge is a gentle grassy slope - pick any line between the two that feels comfortable while entertaining enough to be fun.
Same with using it a descent route; a bit intimidating stepping off the summit, but it is fine.

Hmmmmm
Plenty of time to think about this one...............
