Nobody at the Royal Artillery Barracks has been informed about this. People were still coming in with 100-400 lenses.

I think that this might have been Amateur photographer being a bit twitchy and rushing again...
loads of people with decent sized lenses today.
But tbh, you're never going to get art from spectator positions... keep your eye out of the viewfinder for at least some of the time. Atmosphere in the stadium this morning was simply incredible.

Went to the morning Athletics this morning, and as Dave says, what a great atmosphere. No doubt helped have Christine Ohuruogu, Dai Greene and of course Jessica Ennis amongst other Brits competing.
Camera wise I opted to leave the DSLR as home and we took compacts. Saw plenty of people with DSLRS, 4/3rds and Bridge cameras, did not see anyone with 'long lenses' or Canon's white lenses, but plenty with 24/70 type lenses. Security did not seem fussed and I was regretting not taking the DSLR a little and my 70/200 with extender. That said it probably meant I enjoyed the day a little more and did not worry about taking pictures all day.

I took a 1D mk4 on friday with 24-70, 70-200 1.4x and 2x nothing was said at security and no problems shooting in the olympic stadium in the morning or the hockey stadium in the evening.
An awesome day out and some great photos so happy I took the camera now.

Still undecided. Nikon d7000 or nikon p300 compact?? Have nikon 55-200 and 50mm lenses and tamron 17-50 lens. On front row for water polo on Tuesday but also want to capture the spirit of the games. Hubbie will be carrying bag so not worried about weight.
Take all the gear. Attended an Olympic venue for the fourth time today (Greenwich arena), and once again, no problems. 2 Bodies 3 Lenses.
Just stick to not taking anything longer than 30cm, which, if you take what you've listed is fine anyway.

No issues whatsoever, getting in. I saw bigger lenses that 55-250 too!
Took my compact Nikon P300 in the end. Really easy to take snaps especially around Olympic Park, very light and easy to carry. But didn't realise how dark water polo would be so camera struggled a bit. We were on the front row so I imagine it would have been ideal for Nikon D7000 & 55-200. Oh well, live and learn

I realise I am coming a bit late to the party but I went to the Opening Ceremony and took my 7D with my "holiday" lens a Sigma 18-250mm.
No questions asked and not so much as a second look.
I think the key is not to turn up with multiple lenses or anything too large.
