I am bored bored bored of opening every file in PSP, and having to type out the same old details for every single shot. Is there a piece of standalone software that will be able to add this info as a batch operation?

I believe faststone can do it but haven't used it. Can you make actions in paint shop pro?

If you're talking about IPTC data, then either Photo Mechanic or LR are your best bets.

Cheers to everyone, but we have a winner:

This is from Nikon but works with card readers so is OK for any camera. https://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com...~/nikon-transfer-1.5.1-full-version---windows
It allows you to transfer pics from the card to a main destination & a backup destination if required while embedding data at the same time.

If only it would allow to select a source folder other than removeable drive but still, it's a lot quicker just copying a batch to a memory card and dong it that way than typing the same thing over and over again individually!

Xnview does it very fast aswell. Type it out once then it's literally 3 or 4 clicks to attach the same data to any number of photos in any directory

If you are working with existing files then View NX2 may be better. Another free download from Nikon and great for editing NEFs but will also open JPEG & TIFF.
You select all the pics that you want to add data to, open the Metadata panel and just type in the info which you want inserted in all the selected pics.

"exiftool" will do the job for IPTC copyright field, just a simple case of:

Code:
exiftool.exe -Copyright="©2011 SomeOneImportant" *.*

or

Code:
exiftool.exe -r -Copyright="©2011 SomeOneImportant" .

Either way can be simply put in a batch file and run as needed, plus it's a truely crossplatform solution working the same way on windows, linux, os x or whatever else that has the ability to run exiftool.

Plus it can put the IPTC field into your .dng/.cr2/.nef files without having to remember to do it to jpeg files as the last step before 'publish'.

Edit:

Should probably have included a link to exiftool, here. That also has the list of file types it can read/edit exif info for. (And besides, exiftool is one of those swiss army tools that's just plain 'handy' to have around anyway)

There may even be a simpler way without software: can you set your camera up so it automatically records a comment in the EXIF data of every image? I do this with my Nikon dSLRs to record my name and copyright details.

Oooops...looking again I see you are using film cameras. I presume you need software to add the data to scanned images.

I set Lightroom to apply it automatically when I import each shot.
