I'm just about to pull the trigger on a Canon 300mm f2.8, if I don't have a heart attack first!

I would like to get a preferably Lowepro lens case for it that can be attached to the side of my Lowepro Vertex 100 or other Lowepro bags.

Could someone please suggest a case that would fit it. Would a Lowepro 5S Lens case be suitable?

I've had the large version of these for a sigma 100-300 ex dg f4 - and it has a strap to hold on to a rucksack - althou its from HK thou e-bay - safrotto case

Yeh from Fishguard originally! Going home in a couple of weeks for a few weeks. Looking forward to taking some pics. Just hoping it doesn't rain too much! :shake:
 
Well I pulled that trigger and then had to have a lie down, but I think I'm alright now. :) Excitement is starting to take over from heart palpitations :D

After a bit more research it looks like Lowepro's Lens case 5 is the biggest one they do and it does state on their website that it will take a 300mm f2.8, but I've read a review on Amazon where someone who bought the 5 for his Sigma 300mm f2.8 states that he read somewhere else that the Canon lens does not fit in the 5 due to it's extra girth?

I've also read that the lens would fit in a Lowepro Toploader 75AW without a body attached?

If anyone can confirm either or both, it would be a great help.

My 75AW is 80 miles away just now. But, from memory, my 100-400 was a fairly tight fit - so I'd be gobsmacked if the 300 2.8 fit in it. Now the f4 probbaly would, so maybe there's been some model confusion.

Rather than attaching the 300 to another bag, I use the Lowepro 600AW and attach other bags to that. The 600AW will take the 300 2.8 attached to a body with the hood in shooting position. Then I have a few SlipLock bags that go onthe outside of the 600AW.

think tank's kit is insanely high quality. Downside is, it might make you want to sell your lowepro...

For various reasons, in the end I decided to go for the Lowepro Lens Case 5 after Lowepro confirmed the lens would fit albeit a 'snug' fit.

If it's of any use to anyone in the future, I received the Lowepro Lens case 5 this morning and can confirm that the Canon 300mm f2.8L IS does fit 'snugly', but it's fine and the case is well made as per usual with Lowepro products.

If it is of any help to anyone else in the future, I can confirm that the Canon 300mm f2.8L fits comfortably in a Lowepro Toploader 75AW. Actually it fits better in the 75AW than it does in the Lowepro Lens Case 5 which is supposed to be specifically for the 300mm f2.8L! :shrug:

I am waiting for a canon 300mm f2.8 11 to arrive.
But I have a 75 top loader here.
I think the 300 lens will go in on its own.
It takes a 600D with 70-200mmf4L attached, so the 300mm lens without body will go in there.

I bought the Lowepro 13x32cm case, the name doesn't exactly roll off the Tongue, but it fits a canon 300 2.8 non is

Just tried a Canon 300 mmf2.8 IS 2 in the Lowepro 75AW.................no chance!

Ha Ha....oops! was trying it with a x2 extender attached!

Yes, it fits ...just.
