software

Photoshop 9 is an improvement over Photoshop7, just one thing to be aware of Photoshop9 license only allows it to go onto 3 computers, whereas photoshop 7 has an open license. With photoshop9 you also don't get the paper tomb instruction book, its via the help link on line

If you mean PS Elements, it is a very different beast to LightRoom 3 and are used for different forms of processing and editing. I have both and use LR much more than PSE but there are times when I have to use PSE.

It all depends on what you want to do.

I really like lightroom, it's the first tool I use and I only go on to Photoshop after if required. I'd certainly recommend it and at £100 it's great value too.

Lightroom and Elements (I assume this is what you mean by Photoshop 7) are a good combination.

Is that an ed license as I've only seen LR go up in price recently. Now £214 at Amazon when think I paid £169 back in Dec. Excellent software thou..

As you can see from the above posts, there is no one bit of software that will do it all. Most will do about 80% but us togs will always want what we aint got.

See if you can try a few trial versions and the one you find yourself wanting to use first, is the one you buy ...... then save up and buy the others hahahaha

Software is like women. You want, you get and then you look at the others down the high street hahahaha

sorry girl togs :)

My friends really rave about Lightroom, and use it 75% of the time, only firing up photoshop to do really tricky stuff.

PSE9 is a nice piece of software, but are there any new features that really make it worthwhile for the upgrade?

I believe Elements 9 has content aware fill, but your best be would be to download the trials of both and see how you get on.

I was just thinking of adding some more software. i have limited knowledge in editing and i was wondering if it may be a bit complected for a novice the offer was sent to me from adobe sytems direct for £100 thanks for the advise

Kevin -

Much of what LightRoom does is pretty intuitive and you should have no problem getting good results from it.

Remember to shoot RAW.

When you say "adding some more software," what do you have at the moment?

No harm in downloading the trial version of LR and see how it goes. If you decide to purchase, you can put the new serial into the downloaded version and keep your work without any interruption.
