Yes
Not all flies are disease carrying pests that feed on disgusting stuff and then come and land on your food. Some fly species catch and eat other flies and other insects. Eat is not really the correct term, what they do is inject the victim full of enzymes, which turns their insides to slush, and then they suck out all the juices.
They are not going to win any cute and cuddly prizes either.

1. Robber Fly.

2. Dung Fly with a victim.

Nicely taken Mike (y) some good detail there.

I hear the robber fly tackles the larger dragonflys too.

Not only great photos but informative as well!
I've seen a couple of the dung flies, one when it was giving another fly a 'cuddle' but I didn't know what they were called and now I do.

Thanks Dan and Toonamp.

I'd love to see a robberfly trying to tackle a dragonfly. That would make a good video.

Pure hearsay Mike, but I was willing to suspend disbelief simply for the imagery :D

I've seen a shot of a robber fly with a grasshopper in its grasp. The best I've managed is one with a hoverfly for lunch.

Isn't nature wonderful?

Superb set by the way.......and some interesting added info as a bonus:clap:
